ORTHODONTICS
BRACES
Braces effectively correct crowded, crooked, spaced, or misaligned teeth and irregular bites by guiding teeth into their ideal position. We recommend an initial orthodontic evaluation around age 7 to assess jaw development and permanent teeth positioning. Depending on the child’s needs, early interceptive treatment may be advised, or treatment may begin once all adult teeth have erupted. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, promote healthier gums, and reduce plaque buildup. Traditional metal or ceramic braces use brackets, wires, and elastics to gradually reposition teeth. Treatment typically lasts one year or more, customized to each patient’s needs. Invisible orthodontic aligners and braces are also available. Orthodontics in preparation for surgical reposition of the jaws is our forte.
SMILE DESIGN
This treatment has risen in popularity and aims to create an exceptional result. It is a process which improves the smile through one or more cosmetic procedure. This may include veneers, composite bonding, implants, teeth whitening, cosmetic gum contouring and crowns.
When visiting Muscat Dental Specialists, we will discuss what you like or dislike about your smile. It is very important to have proper analysis and plan before treatment begins. Radiographs, models, extra and intra oral photographs and videos form part of the armamentarium. We will evaluate oral aesthetics to determine and understand the ideal teeth position relative to several different landmarks and the percentage of teeth on display while smiling and at rest. All of the information is compiled and studied to create a trial smile.
You will be able to wear your trial smile for a couple of days if necessary. This enables you and our dentist to work together to determine size, color, percentage of teeth on display, balance and other features like gums, lips and face, giving you a preview of what the final outcome will be. We believe in allowing the patient to become an intrinsic part of the process. Once you are happy with your smile, it will be crafted in porcelain, which is then bonded to create your new beautiful smile.
ENAMEL SHAPING
Do you have a chip in a front tooth? Do your teeth overlap slightly? Would you like to make minor changes to the shape of your teeth or would you like to smooth out bulges or pits in a tooth’s enamel? Enamel shaping could be right for you, our dentist will remove small amounts of enamel, (the tooth’s outer layer) to improve the shape of a tooth. Our dentist will be able to discuss these options with you at your consultation.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Implants offer a permanent solution to tooth loss. Additionally, implants may be used in conjunction with other restorative procedures for maximum effectiveness. Titanium posts are surgically implanted in the patient’s jaw, artificial tooth replacements are then connected to the posts to restore the missing tooth above the gum. They are made of titanium, which is lightweight, strong and biocompatible which means that it is not rejected by the body.
Dental implants have the highest success rate of any implanted surgical device.
ENDODONTICS
ROOT CANAL THERAPY
The treatment is carried out to save a natural tooth, often referred to as root canal therapy.
Our aim is to help you preserve your natural teeth, we make sure that you are as comfortable as possible whilst we achieve this.
A tooth may become non vital for various reasons. Root canal therapy is a micro surgical procedure removing the non-vital tissue and bacteria from inside the tooth, and is carried out in one to two appointments. For more predictable results special protocol, equipment and tools are required. The clinic is fully equipped with a microscope, apex locator and sonic ultrasonic vibration devices for better disinfection. After a successful root canal treatment, a crown will be fitted.
PERIODONTICS
Periodontitis is an advanced gum disease caused by plaque bacteria, which can also threaten dental implants. At Muscat Dental Specialists, our periodontists tailor surgical and non‑surgical treatments to restore your gum health. We provide personalized hygiene guidance including optimal brushing techniques, flossing, and lifestyle advice along with a structured maintenance plan featuring professional cleanings and monitoring every 3 to 6 months to ensure lasting results and early intervention if needed.
AESTHETIC GUM CONTOURING
If you have a low, high or uneven gum line then gum sculpting/contouring can transform this to help create a smile you’ve always dreamed of. By reshaping the gum, we can restore the natural proportions of your teeth. There are different procedures used to achieve this goal. Simple soft tissue gum sculpting, surgical lifting of the gum in more severe cases.
TEETH WHITENING
Teeth whitening safely brightens your natural tooth color without removing tooth structure. During treatment, your gums are protected and a bleaching gel is applied. A specialized light activates the gel, lifting stains and lightening teeth by up to 5 to 6 shades. We offer three whitening systems and will recommend the best option for you. Results can last up to three years, depending on diet, lifestyle, and your teeth’s natural characteristics. Whitening may not be suitable for patients with severe tooth sensitivity, microfractures, or certain medical conditions.

DENTAL HYGIENE
Muscat Dental Specialists -know that good oral hygiene is one of the most effective ways of preventing long-term dental problems. Cleaning teeth properly prevents tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. Plus, it is instrumental in halting more serious problems such as tooth loss and premature ageing from the resulting bone loss in the jaw.
In oral health, prevention is better than cure. Seeing a hygienist regularly reduces the risk of gum disease and tooth loss because even with a good tooth brushing technique, most people miss parts of their mouth.
CROWNS & BRIDGES
A crown is a cap fitted over a damaged tooth to restore its function and appearance, usually made from porcelain. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth and it ‘bridges’ the gap between the adjacent teeth, fusing one or more false teeth to crowns which are fixed to either side of the gap. Bridges are made of porcelain and provide function, look natural. At the same time being durable and resisting stains. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of the mouth they look and feel like natural teeth.
